In some cases, you might face that your wifi is connected but no internet. Sometimes it could be password problem, and sometimes it could also be that you have the same wifi name and trying to connect to the wrong one.
There could be so many reasons why your phone won’t connect to wifi. So, in this post, we will talk about 3 different ways to fix your wifi connection problem on your Android phone.

Phone won’t connect to wifi (Use a static IP instead of the DHCP)
When you try to connect to any Wifi, the wifi network has a problem of static IP and in that case, when you try to connect to a wifi network it will say obtaining IP address and it will not get connected.
You will see that message on your Android phone. So in case you are seeing that particular message I am going to tell you how you can fix it and how you can actually solve that problem. It can happen to any Android phone users irrespective of whatever Wifi network you are trying to connect. And it is normally the problem with the Wifi network, not with your phone.
How you can fix your phone or how you can actually change the settings on your phone to actually connect to the wifi network that is something which I am going to tell you in this post.
Here’s how to fix when the phone won’t connect to wifi:
By following the given steps below you will be able to fix your wifi connection problem.
What you need to do in order to access the Wifi settings is open the settings of your phone
Step 1: Go to Settings of your Phone and locate wifi or WLAN
Step 2: Tap on WiFi. Once you tap the Wifi you will see all the wifi networks available in your area.
Step 3: Press and Hold the WiFi network that you want to Connect to until you get a pop-up message.
Step 4: You will see a list of settings, just tap On Modify network. You will get a new pop up message.
Step 5: Check the Advanced options and scroll down a little bit.
Step 6: Tap On DHCP under IP Settings and you will get a drop down menu DHCP and Static.
Step 7: Tap On Static. Currently, it is setup to DHCP which Dynamic IP address and we will change it into Static.
Step 8: Once you tap Static, scroll down below and you will see the IP address. Under IP address, put the IP Address.
Don’t change the numbers of the first three digits (Numbers from the first three dots). You can change the number after the three dot from 1 to 255.
Example: 192.168.0.(Goes from 1 to 255) and this Must be Unique, make sure it’s not conflicting with the IP address of other Devices in your Network.
Step 9: Don’t Touch other settings like Gateway, Network Prefix length, DNS 1, DNS 2.
Step 10: Tap the save button and you will get connected to the wifi network.
This is how you can solve the problem when your Android phone won’t connect to wifi. Like I said before, this can happen on any Android phone devices.
If you still can’t connect to the wifi after following the steps, all you need to do is Reboot your device into recovery mode, clear cache partition, and Dalvik cache. After that, you should try again and it will work now.
Wifi is connected but no internet connection
You might come across that your wifi is connected but no internet connection. Or you can’t browse or access the internet on your Android device. The first thing to do is to do the basic troubleshooting method. Unplug the power cable of your router for about 5 minutes and plug it back again. If the problem still persists kindly follow the given steps below.
How to fix Wifi is connected but no internet
In order to fix this, you need a little change in your wifi router.
Step 1: In your desktop open any browser and type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and hit enter. You will be redirected to your user login to your router.
Note: in case if it doesn’t work, you can change it to 192.168.1.1 or do a google search to find your router IP address
Step 2: You will see a login page to enter your username and password. If you haven’t change the default username and password, In the username field type “admin” and “password” for the password field. And then hit login.
Note: if you have already change the default login ID, type the username and password you have created
Step 3: Click on wireless settings. You may find the interface is different depending upon your router.
Step 4: In the wireless basic settings, in network mode, you will find 802.11a or 802.11b. If it’s 802.11a try to change it to 802.11b.
Step 5: Click Ok.

Wifi keeps turning on and off
Sometimes we get very annoyed when our phone wifi turns on and off automatically by itself on Android phones. This can be very frustrating if you have this kind of issue. However, don’t worry I will show you how you can fix this problem easily. So when wifi keeps turning on and off it drains off your phone battery which is very annoying and can make you upset.
It doesn’t matter if you turn on your wifi on your phone, a couple of seconds later will turn off again. It will keep repeating itself no matter how much you try.
Before we talk about how to fix this problem first let us know why it’s happening. Our phone is configured in such a way that the applications and services running on the phone try to connect to wifi for better pointing out the location of the device. In order to improve the accuracy of your location, the wifi scanning and Bluetooth scanning are turned on by default.
How to fix wifi keeps turning on and off on an Android phone.
Step 1: Go to settings and find location. You will see that your GPS mode is turn on to High accuracy for improvement. Like I said you don’t need any improvement.
Step 2: Tap Location and turn off wifi scanning.
Some settings may not be same. It depends on the manufacturer of your Android devices. Just uncheck the settings which say “Use wifi to improve your location”.

Reset your Android phone when Phone won’t connect to wifi
You have tried all the three steps I have mentioned above and nothing works for you. Well, don’t worry you still have one more option left. This step will surely fix the issue. You might have a software bug or some kind of a software problem on your phone and your phone won’t connect to wifi.
This might be your last resort but it will completely fix your problem. But before resetting your Android device, first, try to save or backup everything on your device. If you don’t do that it will wipe off whatever you have on your device. That way you don’t lose your precious information like photos, videos, files, etc.
Once you finish resetting your phone, your cell phone is going to be a new one. You can make all the necessary changes you want. Setup all the settings the way you want. Turn on the wifi and there you go. This is the last option if your phone won’t connect to wifi.
After following all the steps I have written above you should be able to connect to the wifi with no problem. If the problem still persists after following all the steps, it could mean that you have an issue with your wireless network.
