How to save gifs on iPhone: Save gifs from a website, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr
Do you find an awesome gif on a social media app or other website and don’t know how to save them? I will help you save them to your iOS device. In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how to save gifs on iPhone or iPad from any website as well as the mobile apps for Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
What is Gif? Gif is a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images. Sometimes it is also called a moving picture. Gifs do not support sound and so it is much lighter than a video file. Gifs is hugely popular on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr etc.
To start out, I will give you general guidelines for saving gif images from nearly any website you may be browsing on your iOS device. Then, we’ll get into the instructions for how to save gifs from Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.

How to save gifs on iPhone: Save gifs from any website
If you find an animated image on a gif database website like giphy, you may see download buttons readily available on the page that will allow you to download and save the images.
If you see a download button beside the animated image on the page you’re browsing, tap download. Now, a window will pop up at the bottom of your screen. From the options presented select save the image. The gif will then be saved to your iOS devices camera roll.
If you don’t see a download button on the page, you can also save an animated image by holding your finger on the image you’d like to save.
Tap the Save icon in the window below to save the image to your device’s camera roll.
How to save gifs on iPhone: Save gifs from facebook
To save gifs from facebook, first of all, you need to open your Facebook app and find a gif you want to save. At the bottom of the gif, you should see the source.
Tap the gif source to open a browser window of the image on its source page. Tap and hold your finger on the gif then tap save the image.
How to save gifs on iPhone: Save gifs from Twitter
To save gifts from Twitter, open the Twitter app from iOS. Then scroll through your timeline to find a gif you want to save. When you find a tweet with an image you want to download, tap the downwards arrow you’ll see in the top right corner of the tweet.
Tap share tweet via.
From the menu that appears, select copy link to the tweet.
Since Twitter actually displays gifs as videos you’ll need to use a conversion software to turn the video into an actual gif image. What I strongly recommend is ezgif.com. Open the Safari browser then type ezgift.com in the address bar at the top. To start the conversion process, tap the video to gif.
Tap the text box to reveal a small pop-up menu, then select paste. Once you’ve pasted the link, tap upload video and tap convert to gif. Your gif has now been created. All that’s left is to save it to your device. To do this, scroll down and tap save below where your final image appears. To save it to your camera roll hold your finger on the gif, then select save the image.
How to save gifs on iPhone: Save gifs from Tumblr
To save gifs from Tumblr, open the Tumblr app, scroll through your feed to find a gif you want to save. Then simply tap and hold on the gif you like to reveal saving options. Finally, select save image, the gif will then be stored in your device’s camera roll.
To view the gifts you’ve saved, tap photos on your home screen and the gifs you’ve saved should appear at the bottom of your screen. Tap one to open it.
