- Open up the snapchat application and pull down from the top of the screen.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and you’ll be taken to your settings.

You should then get a screen that looks like this
Once you do, you need to put the spectacles on your face and then let directly at your snap code. A message will pop up saying that your spectacles your spectacles have been found and to name them.

Now that you pair your Spectacles I’m going to teach you guys how to actually take snapchat video with them.
So, when you have your spectacles on you’re going to notice there’s a button on the top left of the frame. Once you have located that button press the button on the specs once to take a 10 seconds video snap.
Be sure to press down firmly and on the center of the button a white LED light will appear on the inside of the frame to confirm that recording has begun. This single LED light will flash when you only have two seconds left of recording. The spec outer LED ring will illuminate to let friends know that you are recording them.
So, if you’re trying to sneak a snap of your friends without them knowing, just be careful because they will see that light.
To stop your recording simply press and hold the button on the spec for about two seconds.
Here’s a little pro tip:
Spectacles record video with 10 seconds segments. Press once on Specs button to extend your snaps to 20 seconds. You can press again to extend up to 30 seconds. In memories, your recording will be broken into three 10 seconds snaps.
Now let’s say you have a friend that was lucky enough to get a pair of spectacles but you want to try them out. Well! you can share snap spectacles, all you have to do is make sure you are done importing your videos before sharing it with your friends.
To share your spectacles with your friends, all you have to do is unpaired your spectacles which you could do in your settings and they will have to do the same procedure that you did when you first got them by pairing it with their own devices.
Here’s a little spectacles fact, you may run out of storage room if you don’t regularly import your snaps. Just a little FYI between you and me, your spectacle could hold up to 200 snaps.
Now here are two great tips to know that you are running low on storage.
- The inner LED light will blink red.
- The outer LED ring will flash it three times.
If you see these warning signs, it’s probably a good idea to start importing your snaps.
Here are some features that you may have looked over when uploading your snaps because of all the excitement you have of finally being able to use them. When you go to your memories you can actually turn your snap videos from your spectacles into high-definition videos.
All you have to do is tap on “get HD” on the top right of your screen and just follow the on-screen instructions.
Now, if you look back into your Snapchat stories that you posted with your spectacles, if you rotate your phone you’ll notice that the orientation will stay with you.

How do snapchat spectacle works
Snap spectacles were announced in September 2016 and are now available to purchase.
They allow you to record ten-second snaps from these glasses, which are called spectacles without the need to hold your own phone. And then, they’re saved to your memories which you can publish to stories later.
To set up your snap spectacles, make sure your app is up-to-date. Then, access your settings by swiping and tapping the gear icon in the top right. Scroll down a little bit, and you’ll see a section called Spectacles.
Pair it up, and then, put your Spectacles on and tap the button on the left of the Spectacles while looking at the Snap code. Wait a few seconds, it’ll pair, and it will say it’s been connected.
So, to film using Snap Spectacles, all you have to do is tap the button firmly on the left side of the frames, then, a ten-second video will start recording. For the outside observer, there will be a white circular light that starts to appear.
While you’re wearing the glasses, you’ll see a white light that comes on when it starts and will blink a couple of times red before it finishes. If you don’t want to capture the entire 10 seconds, you can hold it for 2 seconds while it’s already filming.
You can record for up to 30 consecutive seconds, but Snapchat will actually break it into 3 ten seconds segments, you just have to tap once while it’s in the middle in one of those ten-second segments.
To access the videos after you’ve recorded them and publish them to your story, or send them to your friends, all you have to do is go to your memories, as you normally would.
There’s going to be a new tab there that says SPECS. Jump there or you can head to the ALL column. Then, select which clips you want to share or publish your story. And then publish them as you normally would.
How to charge snapchat spectacles
In addition to the Spectacles, you’ll receive a yellow triangular case. Aside from its unique design, it actually doubles as portable charging case. When fully charged, this guy can charge the Spectacles up to four times.
To charge the Spectacles, all you have to do is drop them in the case and there’s a magnetic charging port that makes it really easy to connect.
The light will start pulsing when it starts charging. If you want to know how much battery life your case has, all you have to do is tap the button on the side.
If either the case or the Spectacles run out, or you don’t have your case on you, you can use the USB cable to charge either directly.
So, where can you use these Spectacles?
You can use them in your everyday life. There’s a lot of opportunity for using them in active sports. Activities which you might need two hands for and otherwise couldn’t capture on Snapchat. They might be a little bit tricky to get used to them at first. Most of us are unfamiliar with people snapping with glasses as of now, but I’m really optimistic about where they’re going to take Snapchat.
Snapchat Spectacle not charging
If you are having trouble charging your snapchat spectacles, the following post will provide you with the necessary steps to get your spectacle started and running. This process is known as a hard reset.
- Before you start hard resetting, make sure you charge directly from the glass for 10 to 15 minutes. Don’t forget to remove the sticker before charging it.
- Press and hold the button for 55 seconds and then release. You will see three dots on the circuit board with the triangular shape.
- Wait for 10 seconds and then press the button one more time but don’t hold it.
- The three dots will reappear again and it will circulate in clockwise. This means the hard resetting is under process and you will just have to wait until it’s finished.
This is how you hard reset your spectacles if your snap spectacle is not charging.
